Announcing the 2012 Women in HVACR Student Contest!
The national organization for Women in HVACR announces their first annual contest for eligible female students of HVACR industry professions.
Women in HVACR will host their 9th annual conference “Navigating Change” in Schaumburg, IL at the Schaumburg Convention Center, September 18th and 19th, held in conjunction with Comfortech & Mechanical Systems Week 2012.
The student contest winner will receive a complimentary registration to attend the conference PLUS is reimbursed for eligible travel costs – a value of up to $500!
This year’s conference kicks off with a Luau reception, complete with Polynesian musicians and hula dancers on Tuesday night, September 18th, from 6-9 pm. Following the reception on Wednesday, September 19th, is a full day of workshops and educational sessions presented by industry leaders.
Contest Guidelines:

Eligible female students must be a member of Women in HVACR.
Student Membership to Women in HVACR is FREE if you are enrolled in a technical HVACR school or college for engineering. Visit the WHVACR website at www.womeninhvacr.org for more information on how to join.
Students must submit an essay (approximately 500 words) on their experiences of Navigating Change in their life; this could include educational experiences in school, motivation for joining the HVACR industry, what they have encountered as a female in a male dominated industry, expectations for the future and more.

Deadline for essay submission is July 10th.
Women in HVACR Board Members are available to coach and mentor students as they compile their essays. Contact womeninhvacr@gmail.org for more information, to partner with a mentor or to ask for a coach.
Essays and excerpts from them will appear in future editions of the Women in HVACR monthly newsletters.
